Amusing Musings

As a single woman, I come across my fair share of people that are looking for that 'special someone'. Unfortunately, that search can be deterred when we singles come in contact with 'special' people.

Now, when I say 'special', I am not talking about someone with special needs. I am using the word 'special' to refrain from cursing...hence, the quotations. These special people come in the form of liars, cheaters, and in some cases, just plain evil. You catch my drift. So, I was wondering...what if single people were equipped with a device that could read a person's warning label?

Think about it. When you purchase something in the grocery store, an item's label will tell you the ingredients and at the bottom, there is an asterisk with warnings. For example, "This product was manufactured in a machine that uses peanut oil". Now, you would not expect a person that is allergic to peanuts to purchase this item, right?

So, what if people were handed a device when they started dating to read a person's warning label? You wouldn't even have to waste your time introducing yourself or accepting a number when you get the reading..."This man has commitment issues and will cheat on you." or "This woman will lie to you to get your money". Just think of it, pointing a little device at someone and knowing what you need to know beforehand.

However, one thing I mentioned to a friend when I was discussing this wonderful little imaginary device; it wouldn't tell you if the person had a job or how much money a person makes. Honestly, I feel those are superficial qualities about a person that's really no one's business. Plus, whether or not a person has a job does not reflect on the type of person someone is.

Now, this device wouldn't go into extra detail about a person. It wouldn't be able to tell you if a person is compassionate or if they share the same qualities as you do. Remember; this is a warning label device. I still believe that two people should spend some time with each other and get to know one another. It would just help in weeding out those 'special' people that make a person's life a living hell. Wow...just think about it...

Lol, using "special" to refrain from cursing.. Classic! I feel u though, your device would save us a lot of time when dealing with knuckle heads. Hidden motives would be exposed! Besides, you can only be so patient with todays dating scene.
