Will Vick be forgiven enough to move on with his football career?

Michael Vick has just signed a 2 year deal with the Philadelphia eagles...  For obvious reasons, this is an emotional event for football fans (although many disgruntle).  The few that await his return to the NFL are far being overshadowed by those who disapprove of it.  A large portion of the animosity stemmed from the stance of pet advocacy groups that used his status to "tagged the big fish" and spread awareness on animal cruelty.  In the minds of many , his contributions for being the leader of a large underground dog fighting ring will never be forgotten.

Although, Vick has served his 2 year sentence and will have to await his upcoming 4 game suspension, so many feel that he hasn't paid (insert "suffered" here) enough.  My stance on this is, "if you do the crime; you do the time."  Period, your debt to society is paid.  Although, some may want to see eternal punishment for him.  That's another story, another day...

I intentionally stated the title of this post to emphasize his football career.  Would we even care if he didn't play football and was an average guy?  Actually, would we even care if he was just a linebacker?  I believe the answer is NO for both questions.  A lot, of the reluctance to forgive him for his crime comes from his position as a high profiled pro quarterback.  Let's be real...  This is one of the most heralded positions in professional sports.  This has more to do with his profile and who he IS rather than what he did.  My guess is that seeing him hit the field midway through the season will leave a very sour taste in some people's mouth.  What do you think??
