Amusings Musings: What time is it?

What Time Is It?

I remember hearing that the perfect gift to give someone that you wanted to spend more time with; was a watch. But what in the hell does it mean when a person steals your watch? Well, other than the fact that the person is a freaking thief.

Now, hold on…this wasn’t a Rolex or even a Timex. But, damn…it was still my watch! It was silver with a cute little pearl face. (sniff) And as most women can relate to…it matched almost anything! I miss my watch. So, what was the point and purpose for stealing it?

Okay, maybe I should clarify this. I was washing dishes and I didn’t want my watch to get wet; so, I took it off and put it in my (very recently ex) boyfriend’s pocket and said. “Hold this.” We were doing the ‘couple orchestra’, where one person cooks as the other cleans. That was something that we were always good at. I’m telling you. The way we moved in, out, around, through that kitchen as we got breakfast, lunch, and dinner together was a wonderfully synced thing…JUST LIKE MY FREAKING WATCH!!!

So, after the latest verbal battle…I just said, enough’s enough and called it a day. Sadly, I left my watch as I ran for the hills and when I called him to ask him about it he said he didn’t know what I was talking about.

Fine, you can say that I left it…but still, he won’t give it back! True; I am one of those people that are likely to say…forget it; whatever I left, you can look at, wear, or sniff to remember me by and then go out and buy another to replace it. But, I got this watch in Michigan and I live in Georgia. Like I said…the watch was not a Rolex, but spending gas money or going online to try to find a replacement would cost me more than if I was in Michigan and found another just like it.

Just ridiculous…holding your ex’s watch hostage.

Dammit. What time is it?

Time

Movements and moments

Each stolen for its purpose

Grasping at fragmented time

Just a fraction of a second

Or a quick couple of minutes

An instant to ease my mind

This tranquility I’m seeking

Is a small occasion in a tiny point

Continuing and cultivating peace

A place where the phones stop

Traffic comes to a complete halt

And hustle and bustle instantly cease

I’m searching for that tear in space

That will allow me just a portion

One minute…no, make it two

But, I’m feeling like George

Because time won’t give me time

And all I want is to spend it with you.

i once heard that if you gave someone a watch that soon they wouldnt have time for you... could be some old folks tale but, i feel you on people keeping your belongings. kinda like if they cant control the relationship; they will keep your possession as bounty or something.. pathetic!

Time is constant... Make sure you utilize it correctly. Especially when dealing with people because time wasted is such a tragedy
