D.Goard Jr's 2009 NFL Preview
The start of the 2009 NFL season is shortly before us. But before we kick off the season, I wanted to share some picks with you all.

AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers
I think Baltmore will tough and Cincinnati has a pretty good offfense. But let's not kid ourselves, you have to go through the reigning champs in Pittsburgh, and they look poised to make another run at the title.

AFC East: New England Patriots
2 years removed from their 2007 record breaking season, the Patriots look hungry for more. With Tom Brady back after missing last season due to injury and super talented Randy Moss, the sky is the limit. Miami will be good this year too, but my money is on the Pats.

AFC South: Indianapolis Colts
This is where things get a little more difficult. The AFC South is a league that any team could win. Tennessee has a great running game and a nasty defense. Jacksonville is always tough and Houston is much improved. It's hard to bet against Peyton Manning though. I think they win the division by the closest of margins.

AFC South: San Diego Chargers
This one isn't even close. The Chargers are far and away the best team in this division. I think LaDainian Tomlinson will have a chip on his shoulder this year and the return of Shawn Merriman will certainly pay dividends. The Chiefs are bad, the Broncos are in disarray, and the Raiders are well.......the Raiders!

NFC North: Minnesota Vikings
I think the Packers will also have a good year but Minnesota just has too much talent. The controversial Brett Favre will take over at QB and he has plenty of deep threats at wide out. Adrian Peterson is the best RB in the league and Percy Harvin will play a lot as a rookie. Chicago will be alright and the Lions are still trying to find their way.

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles
I struggled with this pick for a while but went with my gut feeling. The Giants have a great defense and a great running game, but Philly is loaded this year. McNabb, Westbrook, Lesean McCoy, Desean Jackson, Jeremy Macklin and a guy named Micheal Vick to name a few. The Cowboys will be solid, but I don't think their better than the Eagles or the Giants. Washington just happens to be in a very tough division.

NFC South: New Orleans Saints
The Saints have a few questions on defense, but their offense is so good, that they may be able to overcome that. Atlanta will make a push and Carolina is usually tough. Tampa Bay is young and will have a tough time this year.

NFC West: Arizona Cardinals
If the Cardinals stay healthy, they definitely have a chance to repeat as NFC champions. They are loaded on offense and have a much improved defense. Seattle will be better and I like Mike Singletary in San Francisco. I think St. Louis has a lot of question marks.
2009 NFL Offensive Rookie of the year: Percy Harvin
2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the year: Aaron Curry
2009 NFL Offensive Player of the year: Drew Brees
2009 NFL Defensive Player of the year: Demarcus Ware
Super Bowl: San Diego Chargers vs Philadelphia Eagles

I'm with u on everything except picking eagles to go to superbowl. I wouldn't pick them with old Vick. I would go with Giants instead.

I like to see Titans get a better passing attack. We saw last night that their running game wasn't enough. I think teams will scheme their run oriented office. They will be a contender but nothing more.

Patriots will be back... Chargers will be no where to be found. I will match them against anyone in the NFC. Doesnt really matter who the comes out of the NFC...

Would go with 49ers before picking cardinals. Cardinals had a lot of luck on their side last season. That mishap at carolina had a lot to do with them being in the superbowl. I think singletary will get the 49ers in line to do some damage this year.

We may see what Vick can contribute sooner than we think with McNabb being hurt. He may not be out long though

What's up Lee, I struggled with that pick for a while between the Eagles and Giants. The only reason I went with the Eagles is because I didn't know if the Giants had enough playmakers at wide receiver spot. Plaxico took a lot of pressure off Manning and the running game. Things are really up in the air now that McNabb is hurt also.

Matt, you're right, the Titans lack an effecient passing attack. I think they'll be solid because they have a good defense and I like head coach Jeff Fisher's experience, but I don't think they can make enough plays through the air to keep defenses honest.

Mitike, I didn't go with the Pats because I don't know if there defense is as good as it was. Offensively, they'll be able to score on anybody, but they'll be in the same boat as Drew Brees and the Saints. Lots of offense, but not enough defense.

Also Nick, I agree that the 49ers will be better and I love Mike Singeltary. In my opinion though the Cardinals just has too much talent too ignore. If they can stay healthy I like their chances. Keep an eye on Seattle also.

all of these picks are wack. Chargers aren't going to win until AJ Smith is fired. Eagles need a new GM too. Andy Reid can't build a good team to win a title. As you can see his faulty O Line has McNabb hurt again. So I like Seahawks vs Dolphins. UNDERDAWGS BABY!

Seahawks & dolphins?? Talk about being wack. Those teams may not even make the playoff. Lol, your name says it all Deez nuts

yo mitike. name 2 other teams who won't make the playoffs on that list. the Giants are 1 injury away from being that way. The Eagles same boat. Chargers just lost LT again. Kurt Warner gets hurt it's a wrap. too much parity, but a betting man would do something crazy like that and it pay off. I was called an idiot last yr too when the Cards ended up in the super bowl.

Cardinals going to superbowl last year is called luck and the piss-poor play of other teams. Didn't have anything to do with u picking them.
