Do you fear marrying someone prior to having sex with them?
(UPH) -- I wanted to piggy back off of Stuart McDonald's (elev8.com) recent article and give it a little spin... What does a person do when they are fighting the battle of pleasure vs. obedience? Wouldn't it bother you if you didn't know what to expect? Sex is all around us so; it's only natural that we place a high value on the quality of it... Right??
Truth be told, my faith in Christ governs my opinion on this topic. I personally believe that people should wait until they are married but, I know that doesnt happen too often in this society. Lol, how many times have we heard someone say "the Lord knows my heart" after slipping up?
So, what is your take? Is the quality of sex a determining factor in choosing a potential spouse? Or, do you believe that a strong marriage eliminates any shortcomings in that category?
Since many people have gone there already it's kinda hard to go into a serious relationship without a "test drive." A true virgin wouldnt have that problem because there would be no past lovers to compare to. People pull the best experiences from their past when they are looking for a spouse. So going into a marriage blindly may be challenging to say the least.

I personally don't think i have a "list" of requirements that a mate has to meet (at least no more than anyone else) but i am a firm believer in the test drive; the return policy, or try before you buy. Forever is a longtime to be having bad or mediocre sex. If a marriage is going to work the sex dept has to be on point, how else is she gonna keep me from straying or vice versa???

I used to have similar thoughts about marriage but, i've learned that communication is the key to sustaining a healthy marriage.
You're going to spend a lot more time talking and interacting with your spouse than having sex with them. So, being able to openly discuss your desires with your spouse will solve most issues in the sex dept.

Communication is all good but, most people aren't effective with it. Most women feel that if they have to guide a Man on how to please them; then it ain't worth the trouble.

some people forget...sex will diminish as you get older anyway. so, they better learn to communicate because that's all they'll have left when it's all said and done...literally.

I agree mistyblue. some actually have to plan to have sex once you throw in kids and increased responsibilities of parent hood. but, that's another subject
