Looking toward the weekend....10/15/09

Greetings Urbanpeephole family. First off, I would like to thank everyone for their input and comments on the site. It is very well appreciated and hopefully we can build and grow on the great foundation that we have here.

With that said, I would like to know what games or events you all are looking forward to seeing this weekend in sports. It can be a big game or even one of your favorite players you're interested in seeing. Here's a couple I'm looking forward to...

Oklahoma Sooners vs Texas Longhorns

The good ole' Red River rivalry between the Sooners and Longhorns will kick off this weekend in Dallas. This game usually has huge implications from a national standpoint because both teams are normally ranked pretty high. The Sooners have some injury concerns, notably their quarterback Sam Bradford and the Longhorns haven't really played a good quality opponent this year. I'm going with Texas in this one for the simple fact that they are still in the national championship picture. They need this game worst than Oklahoma. But then again, in a rivalry...anything can happen.

D.Goard Jr's prediction-  Texas in a classic, back and forth type game.

New York Giants vs New Orleans Saints

Potential NFC championship game. Both teams undefeated. Arguably the best defense vs the arguably the best offense. Drew Brees has been quiet the last few weeks, but we all know what he's capable of. Two things stick out to me in this game. Can the Giants great defensive line get pressure on Drew Brees enough to impact the game? And can the Saints defense slow down the Giants rushing attack? Those things will be key, and could determine the outcome.

D.Goard Jr's prediction- The Giants in a close one.

Cincinnatti Bearcats vs South Florida Bulls

Maybe not two of the biggest names in College Football tradtion wise, but a huge game nonetheless. This game should determine the Big East Championship. Is Cincinnatti the real deal? I don't ever remember them being ranked this high. South Florida has athletes to spare and will be playing at home.

D. Goard Jr's prediction- I'm going with the Bearcats. Brian Kelly is a great coach and may make the difference.

Mitike, Cincy has one of the best coaches in the country and it's starting to show. They aren't the most talented team because the Buckeyes normally get who they want in Ohio as far as recruiting goes and Cincy gets the leftovers. The fact that Cincy is in the top 10 despite not having top notch recruits says a whole lot about the coach.

UC looked good last night but i think the BCS championship game talk is premature. I can see them go undefeated but they shouldnt get rewarded because of their soft schedule.

Im looking forward to seeing SC and Notre Dame. They look even on paper and i think this is ND's year if any to beat SC. Weiss is a failure if he doesnt beat SC this year.

Im not sold on Oklahoma and Texas. It seems lopsided so Im not that interested.

Matt, you're right because the Bearcats just might get left out of the national championship. SC and Notre Dame will be a great game also. Looking from a distance it does seem that the Okla-Texas game will be lopsided, but because it's a rivalry game, it could be closer than we think.

It may be all for show... Teams that come out the gate like this are usually cant keep up the consistency in the post season
