Perry responds to "Coonery and Buffoonery" comments from Spike Lee

(UPH) -- I have to admit that I was one of those that thought the same as Spike Lee prior to giving Tyler's plays a chance.  Once I gave them a chance I realized that Perry's material were always crafty in delivering messages on faith, love, and relationships.  Perry defends his movie characters by suggesting that they are used as bait to draw fans into deeper and more meaningful subject matter.  I have to agree.

What good is only making conscious thought provoking material if you can't reach the people that you are targeting?  As a people, we need both Tyler and Spike's style of production.

What are your thoughts??  I think Spike Lee is out of his lane on this one...  Go bark up the opponent's tree!
