Friday, November 20, 5 to 10 p.m.

Enjoy former Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra trombonist Chris Crenshaw at this month's Friday Jazz.

Artist Background:
Originally from Thomson, Georgia, Chris Crenshaw grew up with music all around him—mostly gospel, R&B, and hip hop—and started playing piano at the age of three. His first gig was as a keyboardist in his father Casper's gospel group, the Echoes of Joy, but at age eleven he picked up the trombone and hasn't let go of it since.

Crenshaw graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor's degree in jazz performance in 2005, and from The Juilliard School with a Master's degree in jazz studies in 2007. While at Juilliard, he joined the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.

Though he is young, Chris Crenshaw has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Tony Bennett, Marcus Printup, Vincent Gardner, Wycliffe Gordon, Jiggs Whigham, James Moody, Loren Schoenberg, Victor Goines, Dianne Reeves, and Eric Reed, among others.
