On Tuesday, Dec. 1, Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was found guilty of misdemeanor fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary for using gift cards that were donated to poor citizens of Baltimore. Dixon, who is a West Baltimore native and the city’s first black female mayor, was acquitted of three other charges, including one felony charge.   

Prosecutors said that Dixon misused nearly $1,500 worth of gift cards. She was accused of using the cards to purchase personal items at Target, Toys “R” Us, Old Navy and Best Buy.
