This Week in Ignorance
It's that time again people! This week had some ignorant things that I heard about, that a lot of people saw, but didn't pay attention to. First of all, I want to send our deepest condolences to everyone affected by the Haitian earthquake and recovery effort. I think that we all could learn and take a step back to see how blessed we truly are. It allows us to see our lives in a different perspective. To understand that even if your situation is bad; there is always someone or something that has it worse than you do and you could still be a blessing to someone else during your time of need. Please give what you can to the Red Cross, your church, or any organization (that is legit, please do your research) that is working towards the relief effort in
With that said, we all know how a bad situation affects our economy. Hurricane Katrina hurt
UPS - $1 Million
Tiger Woods Foundation - $3 Million
NFL - $500,000; NFL Players
NBA - $500,000; NBA Players Association - $500,000
MLB - $1 Million
Hold the Phone! Did I just see what I think I saw?! Tiger Woods and his foundation gave more than 3 leagues combined? Our 3 major sports organizations (where Haitian born players play) matched the amount of UPS? Huh? Does anyone but me see an issue with that? LeBron James makes $20 million a season in the NBA. How much does the NFL plan to make Super Bowl Weekend? MLB (the Nation’s highest paid sport) has A-Rod and the Yankees. C'mon!
We need to look at how much they are charging us to get into these events. The players, are giving. Samuel Dalembert, Pierre Garcon, Jonathan Vilma, Andre Berto, Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade, have all began efforts to help in
Golden Question: Should these mega sports organizations be providing more money towards this effort? What do you think would be a fair amount?
Take nothing away from the giving that has been sent; I don’t want to undermine the fact that something was given, but these athletic organizations generate billions of dollars in their industry. $3 Million doesn’t work for me.
Secondly, How many people believed Charlie Murphy during his True Hollywood Stories on The Chappelle Show? A lot of people thought that it was all jokes. The funniest one to me was the story he told about going to Prince’s house. He said that they played ball and got beat, then afterwards, Prince made them breakfast.
We'll, Chi McBride (Boston Public, Roll Bounce, Distinguished Gentleman, Pushing Daisies) was on the Dan Patrick Show and he began to explain what happened when he was invited to Prince’s house. Roll Tape:

There's an old saying that I'll reference in regards to the professional sports leagues "donations". In essence, the sentiment you can't tell another man how to spend his money. Although given the amount of money these leagues generate, there's no law that stipulates how much they should or could donate to relief efforst caused by natural disasters. Having said that, at the very least, something was donated and will be utilized and appreciated by the native Haitians just the same as if you or I donated $10.

Yeah but giving $10 for us is about the equivalent of every player giving a $1000. That may be decent if every player made $300,000 a year. But the league average for players is well over $1mil.

lets just be thankful that they gave something. we dont need to focus on how much someone gave.

People, look at it this way. When it comes to giving, there is no way a company with a budget the size of professional sports should be giving that little when Angelina Jolie and Brade Pitt gave more out of their pockets than 3 leagues combined. C'mon. That's illogical. Bud Selig could've given that out of his own petty cash, let alone his bank account. I just don't see how they utilized and exploited these countries for entertainment, then do nothing to help build it up. But there is a huge pool of money being thrown into the Chinese market for all 3 sports. Especially Basketball.

Chi McBride and Charlie Murphy need to trade war stories about going over Price's house.
