Amusing Musings: Happy Valentine's Day

Amusing Musings

Happy Valentine's Day!  (Not quite but, close enough...)

The day is approaching. The day that all couples, mainly the women, can't wait for. Silently wishing for flowers and candy; not to mention crossing fingers and sending up prayers for a special piece of jewelry. Surprises are being planned and reservations are being made. In the midst of this second largest card-sending holiday of the year; it's all about being good to the one you love.

I kinda hate to brag...but I just have to tell you what I'm doing for the one that I love this year. I have it all planned out. (I'm excited...can't you tell?) First, start the day with church...after all, it IS Sunday. Then, it's on to breakfast. I could cook breakfast, but I want the one I love to be completely comfortable. Just relax and order whatever is desired. After that, weather permitting, it's a little walk in the park...nature is such a beautiful and calming atmosphere. Then, after arriving home, relax and enjoy a couple of movies...which will probably end up playing unwatched as a nap ensues. After the movies (and quite possibly that nap), it'll probably be dinner...which, again, I will not be cooking. Whatever my loved one wants is exactly what my loved one will get.

You may read that and say...what in the world? She's not doing anything for her loved one! But, I am! I love walks in the park. I love relaxing with movies...which normally have to be rewinded because I fall asleep. I love treating myself to breakfast and/or dinner. Did you catch that? I'm talking about what I'm doing for myself because I love me!

This is not simply a day for couples. And if you don't have someone else to do anything with, then pamper yourself with your heart's desires! Get yourself some candy. Get yourself some flowers. Heck, if you want to go to the movies, but don't want to surround yourself with couples; then go rent one! I know you have not seen every movie that you have wanted to see, have you? Remember that this day is also about self. Continue to do all you have planned, but remember to show yourself some love as well.  Show the one you love that you care and if you have someone to share that day with...don't forget to incorporate what you love into what you have planned together.

Now, if you're one of those people that read this and said...that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If I don't have a Valentine; why in the world would I even do anything special for that day? My reply is simple (you pessimist)...you can't expect anyone to love you when you can't love yourself. And if you read that and said...whatever, Kim, I love myself. My second reply is also simple...then hush and buy yourself something nice!

He says that I am beautiful

But it is he that captures my eye

He says that I am intelligent

But he astounds me with his mind

He says that I spoil him

But I feel the overindulgence is mine

He says he's crazy about me

But it's me that's mad with love

Euphoric and sweeter than chocolate

Are the kisses that he gives me

Comforting and warmer than a blanket

Are his arms when he holds me tight

He is multifaceted and wonderful

Touching, soulful, and supportive

He is endearing and magnetic

And I won't ever be able to thank him enough

Because he's given me a gift long overdue

Tenderness and thoughtfulness

Wrapped in appreciation and adoration

Tied with a ribbon of respect.
