LT # 21

(D. Harvey) - I am looking around at the NFL and I've seen my share of games. I've seen my share of players. I've seen my share of organizations. But I've never seen a player like LaDainian Tomlinson.

Forget about the fact that you can't even pronounce his name or even spell it correctly without getting tongue tied, or the fact that he's been injured the past couple years, or that the Chargers would’ve owed him 7 million this year; but let's think about what an ambassador for the game he is.

Why are we talking about this today? Tomlinson was cut by the only team he had ever known for his entire NFL career this week. After 9 years, over 12,000 rushing yards, huge games, playing through injury, and putting a horrible franchise back on the map; he was released. He's 30 yrs old, ancient for most NFL running backs, but an emotional LT didn’t want to leave the San Diego Chargers.

Although he saw it coming last week, it's different when it finally hits you. It was like he lost one of his children. It hits you like a ton of bricks. This is a man's livelihood. Mind you, his livelihood probably pays more than most of ours, but he wasn't above going to work everyday, being the hardest worker, and not complaining. Humble and classy, sophisticated, and mature are just adjectives to most people, but to LT, it’s who he is. He'll land on his feet and be the best at whatever he does, but I see him playing in the NFL next year. Do you?

P.S.: Did you see the hill behind his house that he runs everyday in the off season? I couldn't do it once a month. He does it everyday. Talk about love of the game!
