This Week in Ignorance

This Week in Ignorance

This is the Basketball Edition of Ignorant things that have been brought to my attention.

Let me first start with this disclaimer: I am, by far, not a Kobe Bryant fan nor do I believe that he's not the best basketball player in the world currently. I respect everything that he's accomplished and have to respect it, but I am far from a Kobe or Lakers fan!

With that being said, how would you like to be Jeff Van Gundy? You tell the best in the game that he can't do something, and don't ever do that in a game. He waits until the next time you're in an arena with him, does it in front of you, and makes you look silly in front of 30,000 in attendance and millions watching at home. That's exactly what Kobe did!

So, is this a big deal? He did use his left hand. He trained w/Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon during the offseason and got better on the post moves he felt that he lacked. I think this is just a product of hard work. Sorry Jeff, you're still the Ugly Van Gundy in more ways than one now!

This just in: NBA Scouts can no longer go into High School Gyms due to NBA age restrictions! Ok, ok, I'm about 2 or 3 yrs late on this breaking news. But does that stop WNBA teams from going into high school gyms?

Take a good look at Bubbles. No, we’re not talking about Michael Jackson’s pet monkey. We're talking about Bubbles Anderson. She's a 6'10" female basketball player. Most importantly, she's 16 YEARS OLD. She's still growing and the basketball coaches at Rutgers Prep in NJ love her for more than what she can do on the court.

Watch out Candace Parker, Maya Moore, and Brittany Griner. It's about time for Bubbles.

Alright, alright, I'll get off of basketball for one second and on to football. How ignorant is this?

This is a story that can only come from my hometown of Flint, MI. Todd Carter was making smoothies and is (now get this) the starting kicker for the Carolina Panthers. From minimum wage to $320,000 this year. Granted, the 23 yr old has still been working on his kicking after spending the past 4 years at Grand Valley State, but c'mon. Did I mention he will only handle kick-offs? They have John Kasey still on the roster for field goals.

This is unheard of, or is it? Remember Joe Horn? Prior to signing with the Chiefs, he was working in a furniture warehouse. Michael Lewis, prior to signing with the Saints, was the Budweiser delivery guy or “Beer Man”.

So all of the negative press coming out of my hometown can cease, at least for now. Thanks for representing Todd; we’ll be rooting for you all the way.
