This Week In Ignorance

Last week was the NBA Edition, well this is the NFL Edition!

NFL Draft Time folks! The 2010 NFL Draft was in Primetime and we had a good time looking at the new NFL Draft Picks getting that first Paycheck and running with it. It's the biggest payday for most of their careers and the franchises that drafted them hope to get that 1 player that can get them to a Super Bowl down the line.

All of that is well and good on day one. You have Commissioner Roger Goddell in attendance. All of the highly touted Day 1 picks are in the Green Room waiting to shake the commissioner’s hand. The Top ESPN and NFL Network analysts are there commentating. Everything went smoothly. Same with Day 2.

But, uh oh, Day 3 changed things. They pulled out the backups. In the NFL, when you put in backups who don't know the plays, something usually goes wrong. It's up to the team to either makeup for the mistake or it's just a lost game at that point.

I'm saying this to bring me to the only ignorant thing I saw at the draft. Ron Jaworski was on the ESPN Panel in New York for day 3 draft coverage. They were asking questions about the picks in the 5th round and they went to the Spring game at Penn State were Kirk Herbstreit and Matt Millen were to be commentating. The two got into a conversation about fried bologna sandwiches, at which point Millen said, "Ask any polack from Buffalo how they like them, right Jaws." That comment led to this (DURING DRAFT COVERAGE 10 mins later)!

Lions fan at heart, I can't stand Matt Millen, but he keeps on making these mistakes, yet keeps getting a job. C'mon, what does the guy have to do to get fired? Ignorant?

If you know about the NFL, you know about Ben Roethlisberger and his issues with the law. He has had 2 sexual assault cases in the past yr. Although, never convicted, he received a 6 game suspension by the NFL and he stated that he will not appeal. Good for business? Good decision or bad decision by Commissioner Goddell?

Let's look back at what happened in the past shall we? Adam "Pacman" Jones, received a 1 yr suspension and was shut out the remaining 4 games of the following season for personal conduct. Never convicted of any crime, but c'mon, he's so ignorant a caveman would be more upset at him than Geico. There were other suspensions that the NFL handed out for far worse crimes. Compare those to this suspension. Does this change your thought's a little? Let me know what you're thinking folks. The Ignorance has just begun.
