The Game within the Game

It's coming up on that time folks. Basketball season is getting ready to close. NFL Draft is over. Hockey is about over. Baseball season begins the long summer of nightly Web Gems without much spark of excitement until after the All-Star break. What does all of this mean?

It's getting closer to the next Madden NFL 11 due out in August of this year. WOW, it's that time already? Yes folks, it's coming quickly and we all know how valuable that game is to most men and women who love football. The younger generations are learning the game of football watching others play this video game instead of watching the real game on TV. Some College and Pro Football players learn other teams strategies by playing this game. Notably, Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars uses the game as a form of game film for other defenses against him. He says it helps him during the game because he’s seen that defensive play already.

The reason why there's a game within the game is the fact that people complain about how hard it is to play Madden. Most people who play the game, just want to grab the sticks and throw touchdown passes and look good while doing it. Madden games are notorious for making your football savvy look horrible in a matter of seconds. Playing against the computer the first time lets you know that you aren’t ready for the big leagues yet and you need to practice against some friends with equal or lesser skill prior to trying to win a Super Bowl!

This year is different. Football knowledge may not be needed any longer. Those who cried for help to learn football has now received it and the game has been completely dumbed down to fit what some people who only watch football occasionally for the Super Bowl or Playoffs, and didn't know how either team reached that level.

A mode called GameFlow had been added to the game so that the computer will call the offensive and defensive plays and some substitutions. All you have to do is hike the ball and you’re off. No more scrolling through 100’s of plays in 35 seconds.

If you're a true football and Madden fan from the beginning; you’re thinking, "THIS SUCKS!" If you're like rest of the world, it's great!

Now we have to see if the Madden curse will hit Drew Brees. Good Luck Coverboy!
