Amusing Musings: Kill This Cat...

Kill This Cat...

by Kim Jackson

I have a question that I need to post to the masses. Well, some of the masses; more precisely...the men.

Denise is a good girl. Even though she's been through her share of ups and downs with men, she doesn't allow those past issues to wiggle into her current relationship. She is one of those women that do not believe that all men are dogs. And it is for these reasons that when she is in a relationship; she has no problem accepting the pace and playing the situation by ear. If he wants to spend every waking moment with her; she can do that without assuming that they are getting married next Saturday. If he wants to move as slow as a snail in the snow, that's fine; she does have other things in her life that can consume her time. Whatever the situation, she will still be that good girl and strive to be that good woman as well. She will cook with no problem. She will clean with no problem. She has even babysat with no problem. She wants her significant other happy and comfortable.

Enter stage left...David. David promises Denise everything, but the moon and stars; taking her out of town to meet the family, meeting all the friends, and setting the stage for their future. "This is your new Aunt So and So and your new Uncle Whatshisname." She takes his cues and doesn't make the plans, because those are for the man to do, but she does think about it. Then...for some reason...the bottom falls out. Denise and David begin to argue. At times, she doesn't even know what in the world they are arguing about, but it gets ugly. In the midst of this ugliness, the truth emerges. And her name is Danielle. David has been cheating.

Denise picks up the pieces of her heart and attempts to move on with her life; although at times of loneliness, she still spends time with David. Finally, after a few months Denise meets a very sweet and lovely man. She tells David to leave her alone so she can move on in peace...but there is a problem. David, although he is still being the womanizer that he revels in, will not go away. She's been calm about it. She's said please. She's even been pushed to the limit of vulgarity and disdain. David will not go away. He claims love; while continuing to claim her to his family and friends, but still using and breaking hearts of other women. Even when Denise tells him that she WILL get the authorities involved because she is at her wits end; David doesn't care. He says he doesn't even care about her relationship; which is now approaching the seven month mark. Yes; he has been keeping this up for a while.

Now, I could ask the obvious and ask why do men destroy something that they obviously know that they were lucky to get in the first place; but, that is a moot question...because they can is the answer. But, my question is this. What does a woman really have to do to make a man go away? Especially, when he doesn't seem to care that she is sharing her life, heart, and bed with another?
