Great Opportunity for High Schoolers..

The Global Health Odyssey Museum is pleased to announce the 2011 CDC Disease Detective Camp (DDC), to be held at CDC Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. DDC is an academic day camp for upcoming high-school juniors and seniors who will be 16 years old by the first day of camp.

Dates for the 2011 sessions are June 20-24 and July 18-22, and applications are now available at http://www.cdc.gov/museum/camp/about.htm.  Application to the camp is open to the public. Each session will include the same activities, from 8:45 AM – 4:30 PM each day. There are no camp fees, but each camper is responsible for bringing or buying his/her lunch.

Please note that admission to the CDC Disease Detective Camp is competitive.  Applications are ranked by an independent panel, so it is important that essays are thoughtfully written and all required components are included.

The deadline for applications is April 15, 2011.  Letters will be emailed to all applicants on May 6, 2011.  For more information on the camp and the application process, please visit http://www.cdc.gov/museum/camp/about.htm

Questions?  First, read all the information at  http://www.cdc.gov/museum/camp/about.htm.   If you still have questions, contact Judy M. Gantt, at jgantt@cdc.gov or 404-639-0831.

The CDC Disease Detective Camp is sponsored by the Global Health Odyssey Museum, Division of Community Engagement, Office of the Associate Director for Communication; and the Scientific Education and Professional Development Program Office, Office of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services, CDC.
