Lasers Music Review
I must be dreaming. This can't be. We've waiting almost 2 yrs for this very album and it's finally here!!!!!!
Amped!
Couldn't wait to have it blasting in the car. Couldn't wait to hear the lyrics of intellectual fortitude of the man many are believing will change the game of Hip Hop.
March 8th 2011 was a day that was on my calendar for 6 months and even Lyor himself couldn't change this one. (Especially after the protest by the fans outside the labels front door)
The single was super hot. The Show Goes On!
So here's what we have: Hot Single, Fan Anticipation and Revolution, artist evolution, Skill, Talent, and most important, ZERO COMPETITION!
After all of this, I can only say that this album was a C+.
I am a huge Lupe Fan, but this album was a serious downgrade to his first two projects. I like the album, but it lacks the luster of past works due to evolution of artist and music. He's not a young man daydreaming or chasing the cool. The story of life has been told on so many levels.
Now, how do you attack the world we live in today?
Use a Laser. After all, we are not losers, we are lasers.
I can't say that there are any bad songs on the album, just no standout classics that will make me go back and listen to it over his older work.
Nothing bad, yet nothing great. That's why I have to give it a C+, maybe B-.
Go get it and judge for yourself. If you love Lupe, you'll like the CD. Straight up

Wanna to thank you for interesting content buddy. Keep writing

i agree that this album is lacking (severely...), but i disagree on the reasons. this isn't about artistic evolution at all. if anything, lupe's growth has been stunted.
this record reeks of label interference. big hooks, guitar riffs... it's all really formulaic. it's like they heard B.o.B's (also not great) album and said, "hey, make us one of those. it sold pretty well.) my guess, or rather my hope, is that lupe begrudgingly went along for the ride just to get the project done and released just so he could could build enough cred (with the label) to make the music he really wants.
so, i'll take an L on this one if it means we get better music from him down the road.

I didn't think it was that bad...then again I haven't listened to Lupe's previous albums. I may check out some of his old material and then make my opinion.
