What the What?!

So this week is no different. Things happening around the world and in our cities that make you say, “What the…?!”

  • Dr. Oz has taken advantage of the spot left by Oprah and put the country in an uproar about apple juice. (yes…apple juice) Apparently, studies performed by Dr. Oz’s show have stated that apple juice made with imported apples have unhealthy levels of arsenic in them. I want to say that Dr. Oz should be careful about the information that he puts out to the world. Like I said, I want to say it. But, let’s be real. Controversy equals ratings.
  • Troy Davis, at this time, is still scheduled for execution on Wednesday, September 21st. The Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles is meeting on Monday to discuss his case and the over 650,000 signatures that they received on Thursday. The mother of the murder victim, Mark MacPhail, refuses to acknowledge any of Davis’ advocates…Amnesty International, former President Jimmy Carter, and Pope Benedict XVI; to name a few (Yes, THE Pope). Anneliese MacPhail is confident that Troy Davis is guilty, despite the recants of several witnesses that were the cause of his conviction and no physical evidence. We’ll see what happens. I pray for all parties involved.
  • President Barack Obama presented his Jobs Bill this past week. Of course there’s the normal grumblings about the bill and his approval rating…but have you considered the source of these grumblings? According to a story that was published in today’s AJC; federal, state or local tax collectors filed liens against 16 state senators and 32 representatives of the state of Georgia. The liens — past and present — total $1.4 million in taxes, interest, penalties and fees. Sounds like some people need to give up their jobs. Makes me wonder what the rest of the representatives of our country are up too while they’re sending the country in a tailspin criticizing and not supporting OUR president. Whether you like to admit it or not…that’s exactly what this man is…OURS. And the sooner everybody gets on board and does what’s best for this country; the better off we’ll be. ‘nuff said.
  • Herman Cain. Oh, Herman, Herman, Herman. The more he talks, the more I begin to believe that this man is a paid employee of either Rick Perry or Mitt Romney…maybe both. Herman decided to shout out his ‘999’ plan during a recent debate. Does he not realize that is the mark of the devil? May he does, at this point…who even cares.
  • And in a PSA…NASA has informed us that they are on the lookout for a 5 ton satellite that is on a collision course with earth. They know it’s going to hit, they just don’t know where. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to keep an eye to the skies and on the web for this. I’d hate to be walking to my car and get slugged with a piece of satellite.
