actually the pain would supersede the "concern that one would have with their own welfare". most kids dont have a concern one way or the other with touching a hot stove until they have experienced that unpleasant feeling of being burned (or being scolded).

Websters dictionary defines selfish as arising from concern with one's own welfare or advantage in disregard of others. If you weren't selfish, you could do it regardless of the pain.

Good analogy but, not being able to bite through your own skin may have more to do with the pain involved. I can see the connections to biology and physiology but, not so much for the selfishness part.

See, that's what i'm talking about. A topic that I like. The Law of Self Preservation. That's why you can't bite through your own skin. Try it. You're selfish by biological nature due to this law. This law won't allow you to bite through your own skin causing you to be selfish towards your body. I'm telling you try it and see and watch the results. Not one cut shall come, not even a scratch.

After watching the video I honestly feel that they did their thing. But, it seems as if people are more hung up on them winning the prize money (and taking it back to their school). I understand tradition and all of that but, the others step teams should have brought their A-game.
